The Failure of Modern Commercial Aviation

Published by Justin at 2:47 pm under Usability

One can argue that the modern commercial aviation industry is a complete failure:

  1. Commercial aircraft cost billions, when they should cost millions;
  2. Flying today is worse than flying 10 years ago;
  3. Flight times haven’t improved significantly since the 70s; and,
  4. The whole approach to flying is a bit too archaic to be considered impressive engineering: Strap a huge engine on a tube, apply constant thrust, and hope you don’t fall.
